Experimenting with Washi Tape!

It's Tuesday, my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week my teammates and I are showcasing Washi TapesTopflight Stamps has a wide variety of Washi Tape by AALL and Create, Pen Paling Paula, Stampam, Leane Creatief, and Studio Light.

I opted to use Free the Birds Washi Tape 75Heritage Scroll Washi  Tape 76, and Prickly Blooms Washi Tape 69 -- all by AALL and Create to create two cards and a tag. These three tapes can be layered together to create larger images, which is exactly what I did. Then I took it a few steps further by adding multiple layers of clear embossing powder to one of the images and adding a crackle medium to another.

Here's the A2 Card!

Here's the A6 Card with the Heat Embossed and Stamped Washi Image Panel.

Here's the tag with the crackled Washi Image Panel

Notes:
All three projects were started the same way. Strips of  Free the Birds Washi Tape 75 and the Prickly Blooms Washi Tape 69 were adhered to lightweight white cardboard (leftover from packaging), taking care to line up the images so that they formed a cohesive image.

Instructions:

For the A2 Card:
1. Cut green cardstock to 8.5" x 5.5". Score the panel at 4.25" and fold to form an A2 card. Set aside.
2. Sponge Golden Glitz Delicata Ink onto the Looking Glass Frame Die. Place green cardstock onto the die, and cut the cardstock. The gold ink will highlight the frame's details.
3. Use Golden Glitz Delicata Ink to edge the frame die-cut.
4. Adhere the washi tape image panel behind an ornate frame die-cut and set aside.
5. Adhere strips of Heritage Scroll Washi  Tape 76  onto green cardstock, then use the edge of a ruler to secure the tape to the green cardstock, so that the color shows through the translucent washi tape.
6. Put some drops of Golden Glitz Delicata re-inker onto a craft mat. Spray with alcohol, then use a paint brush to mix the ink and the alcohol.
7. Dip the brush into the alcohol ink puddle and splatter the washi tape background.
8. Trim the washi-taped background panel to 4" x 5.25".
9. Use a scissor blade to distress the edges of the background panel, then lightly edge all sides  with the the gold ink.
10. Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair In to stamp the sentiment onto green cardstock and heat set with gold embossing powder.
11. Use dies from the Taggletastic Die Set 30  to cut the sentiment and mat it.
12. Use a border die from the Frayed Frames Die Set 26 to cut green cardstock.
13. Edge the sentiment die-cuts and the border with gold ink.
14. Assemble the card as shown.

For the A6 Card:
1. Cut and score brown cardstock to form an A6 card. Set aside.
2. Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the Shattering #713 Clear Stamp onto the second scene built with the Free the Birds Washi Tape 75  then heat set.
3. Smoosh a VersaMark pad onto the stamped  washi image panell.
4. Add clear embossing powder, dump off the excess, and the heat set the panel.
5. Repeat Steps #3 and #4 four times to build a thick layer of clear, shiny glassiness. See photo below.
6.Trim the embossed panel and adhere it to black cardstock.
7. Use a Nesting Frames die to card brown cardstock three times.
8. Layer all three frames to each other.

4. Use the tag die from the Taggletastic Die Set 30 to cut pale grey and black cardstock.
5. Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink to stamp the numbers from the Reckoner Clear Stamp Set onto the tag.

Instructions:

Step 1:

Use magnets to secure a  piece of white Bristol paper to the base of a stamping platform.

Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink to stamp the bird stamp from the “I’m Fine”  image twice — once onto the image panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper. Heat set the stamped image panel.

Step 2:

Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it onto the image panel as a mask.

Step 3:

Use low-tack tape to secure the Sunshine Small Stencil onto the stencil so that the “sun” is over the bird’s face. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Love Letters Memento ink over the mask and masked image onto the image panel (3A).

Use a separate Sponge Dauber for each color to apply Tangelo, Dandelion, Bamboo Leaves, Bahama Blue, Danube Blue, Lilac Posies, and Grape Jelly Memento inks in rainbow order (ROYGBIV) counter-clockwise over the stencil onto the image panel (3B). Not all stenciling is shown. Remove stencil.

Step 4:

Use low-tack tape to secure the Confetti Stencil over the image panel. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink over the stencil and masked image onto the top left and bottom right of the image panel (3A).

Use a separate Sponge Dauber to apply Golden Glitz Delicata ink over the stencil and masked image onto the top right and bottom left of the image panel (3B).

Remove the stencil and heat set the image panel. Set aside.

Step 5:

Secure a piece of black cardstock to the base of a stamping platform. Place the “You’re the best” sentiment from the Whatcha Saying? Clear Stamp Set, the “Happy Birthday”, “Celebrate”, and “Happy Birthday” sentiments from the Classic Sentiments Clear Stamp Sets facedown on the black cardstock.

Press the platform’s lid onto the back of the stamps, lift the platform, ink the stamps with the VersaMark Dazzle ink, and stamp. Remove the black panel from the stamping platform.

Step 6:

Sprinkle White MBoss Powder onto the stamped sentiments, slide the the excess powder back into the bag, and heat set the sentiment.

Step 7:

Use cutting dies to die-cut the sentiments. Trim the left side of the “celebrate” flag and the right side of the “happy birthday” flag. Use Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink to edge the trimmed sides. Heat set the ink. Put the sentiment die-cuts aside.

Step 8:

Use watercolor markers to color the bird’s eyes and beak. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to the eyes and beak. (No photo, sorry!)

Step 9:

Trim the image panel to 3.75” x 5”. Use a Sponge Dauber to edge the top left and bottom right with Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink (9A).

Use a separate Sponge Dauber to edge the top right and bottom left with Golden Glitz Delicata ink (9B).

Step 10:

Use Tear It! Tape to adhere the image panel to a black panel cut to 4” x 5.25” and to adhere the matted image panel to a white A2 card.

Use Tear It! Tape to adhere the sentiments to finish the card.
